The Utah Arts Festival is an arts nonprofit and host of Utah’s largest outdoor multi-disciplinary festival in the state. They are a team of three full-time staff members, volunteer program coordinators and seasonal contractors. Before creating any content, I optimized the Festival’s social media bios on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. On Instagram we cleaned up their highlights, trimming down from 20+ highlights to the strategic few their audience needs and added on-brand highlight covers. I also pin the most important, relevant posts their audience needs at the moment.

After our first month working together. For many accounts that haven’t been very active, huge results like this occur as we go from 0-100 and they level off month over month.

How we used automations to increase audience engagement & action
We took advantage of the current engagement trend on Instagram of asking audience members to comment keywords to receive a link in their DM, rather than sending them to our link in bio. I set up multiple automations with ManyChat so audience members would immediately receive a link after they commented key words to take actions like applying to be an artist, voting with their donations, purchasing event tickets, etc.
The response from the Festival’s audience was a great success with over 200 comments with audience members wanting to take immediate action.

Tactics used to help the Festival run the Festival’s most successful fall fundraising campaign
The Utah Arts Festival’s fall campaign was titled Vote 4 Art and was a competition between each Festival program. Festival supporters voted for their favorite programs with their donation with the winning program receiving extra funds for their 2024 program.
This was the first year the Festival heavily pushed the campaign on social media and the results were amazing! The Festival was just barely shy of the overall campaign goal, but it was one of the most successful fall campaign, raising the most money than they ever had at that time a year.
Utilizing Program Coordinators
The Festival’s audience loved seeing familiar faces and meeting the coordinators behind the programs they love. Some of the coordinators agreed to film themselves talking about their program and their plans for the 2024 Festival.
The videos were a success with each reel receiving more engagement and views than the previous reels we’d posted. And each program received hundreds more in donations after their program coordinator video posted, showcasing the power of sharing on social media to share your message and encourage action from your audience.
Utilizing Instagram Stories
To keep up the spirit of competition and keep the Festival audience informed, I posted weekly updates as to which programs were winning and how people could vote. This kept the campaign top of mind to the Festival’s audience while keeping engagement up.
